1573063_1.jpg DESRIPTION

A traditional double-ended gaff ketch on French fishing trawler lines, 'Francton' has been excellently maintained and cruised throughout the Mediterranean by her current owners for the past three years.

For those who know, the gaff ketch rig is one of the easiest and most versatile for ship handling with a small crew, and is easily capable of driving the heavily built oak and iroko hull through light airs, or heavy weather with equal aplomb.

The combination of a deep forefoot and long keel allows for easy tracking, heaves-to comfortably in the roughest of seas and 'takes the ground' well when the tide goes out too! This is the reason vessels of this type have been the choice not only of Mediterranean and Northern European sailors, but also Arctic explorers as well.

I assure you, 'Francton' will get you there (wherever 'there' might be!) and back again in comfort, style, and safety.

1573063_2.jpg This type of boat has been very popular in the Mediterranean and Northern European countries for many years, and it is easy to see why. Spacious living quarters, easy handling, and a proper 'shippy' feel, not only make 'Francton' a seaworthy ship, but also a fine liveaboard and long distance cruiser as well.

While 'Francton' is currently cruising the beautiful Dalmatian coast of Croatia, the owners have agreed to deliver the yacht to any Mediterranean port for a new owner. Please have a look at the photos (all taken in 2006) and full specifications for more details

1573063_3.jpg HISTORY: Built in France at Granville Chantiers shipyard in 1974, fitted out to first owners specifications in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1975. Sailed extensively throughout the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean for 25 years.
